A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercise, I advise the gun. While this gives a moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise, and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind.

Shooting sports are an excellent form of exercise and help strengthen parts of your body that other forms of exercise may miss. Shooting helps develop both your physical and mental skills unlike any other sport.

Shooting builds upper body, arm, and hand strength. It builds stamina, hand-eye coordination, and fine motor skills. It also improves balance and develops your core muscles which can help support proper posture. Because they rely heavily upon eye sight, shooting sports also strengthen eye muscles.

Shooting is a mentally intensive sport, it improves your ability to focus and concentrate. It also improves mental discipline and provides stress reduction. Shooting builds courage, confidence, and improves one's sense of security.

For youth, shooting sports also help to develop personal responsibility as well as promote liberty and freedom. Shooting sports are also highly competitive while allowing for individual as well as team advancement.

Shooting sports do not limit participation and are inclusive of all genders and ages, and welcome both shooters with disabilities as well as able-bodied shooters. For the disabled, shooting is one of the finest and most versatile sports available.
